Responsibilities and Duties
- Lead, develop, support and promote the organisation’s communications and digital media strategy across traditional and online media platforms, including message development, social media content creation and media outreach
- Develop, lead, and manage storytelling strategy and implementation to capture the organisation’s impact and national movement
- Develop and disseminate public relations materials that increase our visibility among stakeholders and lawmakers
- Draft, and edit written materials, communications plans, and content as needed;
- Lead press strategy and outreach, working to maintain and expand the organisation’s press relationships
- Coordinate with multiple team members to help maintain the organisation’s messaging and editorial calendar
- Draft statements, talking points, blog posts, op-eds, speeches and press releases
- Write, edit, and post new web content on website and other platforms
- Provide support on reporting communications metrics and KPIs
- Create messaging for social media kits and press kits
- Work closely with Communications Associates to coordinate the organisation’s Community storytelling priorities
- Keep up to date on communications and digital industry standards and trends;
- Attend and cover live events as applicable
- Manage communications interns
- Build and maintain relationships with journalists, bloggers, investors and community audiences that will help advance our work
- Identify target audiences and create strategies to effectively engage them
- Ensure digital marketing content aligns with our brand’s identity and message, and assist with marketing campaigns as needed
- Work closely with leaders and executives to develop and strengthen employee engagement activities
Qualifications and Skills

- Minimum of 3 years of experience in communications and digital media, in publishing or media outlet, at a PR agency, or NGO setting;
- Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, English, Communications, Public Relations, International Relations or related field preferred
- Excellent writing skills – experience writing and editing op-eds, blogs, press releases, and editorial content for a brand, organization, or thought leader;
- Knowledge of digital marketing tactics, such as SEO and email marketing
- Experience driving impactful storytelling strategy;
- Strong media relations background and experience working with press;
- Experience working as part of a client-facing communications team;
- Strong skills working in diverse teams and across various of organizations;
- Team-oriented; relationship-builder; and strong inter-personal skills;
- Excellent critical thinking skills and the ability to exercise good judgment and solve problems quickly and effectively
- Ability to multitask in a very fast-paced, often rapidly changing environment.
- Basic proficiency Adobe Suite, Microsoft Office Suite;
- Ability to meet regular attendance/tardiness policy;
- Sense of humour, creative energy and a great team player.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle stress;
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience maintaining and managing organizational social networking accounts;
- Experience writing and editing educational materials and curricula
- Proficiency in email marketing platforms (e.g., Convio Luminate Online, Every Action, Campaign Monitor, Pardot, or similar tools), CRM (Salesforce preferred), and CMS platforms (WordPress);
- Experience producing and editing video content;
- Familiarity with global humanitarian and gender equality issues and issues affecting girls and women globally.
