- Review key documents for a context and sector overview.
- Develop stakeholder engagement strategy and workplan, key informant list, questionnaires, and meeting guides and tools.
- Facilitate meetings and workshops with key stakeholders and Child Protection Sub-Sector Members as outlined in the engagement strategy and workplan. This will involve field visits to locations in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe.
- Draft and present the Child Protection Sub-Sector 3-year Strategy to key stakeholders, including child protection sub-sector members, to discuss feedback, which will inform the final strategy. The strategy should address:
- Early recovery, protracted crisis, and emergency response strategies;
- Capacity gaps and capacity building strategies to address identified gaps as contained the final report of the Gap and need analyse;
- Gaps in adapted or contextualised technical guidelines;
- Contextualized prevention, response, and risk mitigation approaches, ensuring strategies in line with the Minimum Standards for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action and the socio-ecological approach;
- Linkages to the National Action Plan to End Violence against Children and other relevant national or local action plans;
- Joint or integrated approaches across sectors, where relevant;
- Measurable indicators to track progress against strategy; and
- Costed strategic work plan with timeline.
- Finalize and submit the approved Child Protection Sub-Sector 3-year Strategy for endorsement by CPSS members.
Qualifications
To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
- At least 6-7 years’ experience in strategy development, coordination or management for the humanitarian sector, specifically child protection programmes in emergency and/or early recovery/development contexts.
- Additional 2 years for candidates holding only a Bachelor’s Degree.
- Previous experience working in UNICEF is highly desirable;
- Ability to conduct data analyses using Excel or other statistical software (Stata, SPSS, etc.)
- Proven problem-solving and analytical skills, including the ability to assess situations quickly, identify needs clearly, and respond with recommendations to address identified issues during the course of the assignment;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; and ability to analyze diverse information and develop recommendations for appropriate response
- Technical knowledge and experience in assessing the quality of and developing strategies for child protection in humanitarian action programming
- Proven abilities to work collaboratively and effectively facilitate consultations and interactive, participatory meetings
- Fluency in written and spoken English is required.
- Practical experience on the cluster approach at the country and/or global level.
- Prior experience in Nigeria
